    Role Summary

    The TV Technician will keep our sports and entertainment television and internet production and post-production systems operating at optimum condition. As a member of our Technical Operations and Engineering group, the TV Technician will perform preventive and corrective maintenance and provide user support for all ENG/EFP, production and post-production systems used to acquire and produce content for MSG Networks linear channels and digital platforms in a fast paced, live environment.


    • First line of defense and troubleshooting when an issue is reported
    • Diagnosis and repair of all systems and escalation to engineering management where necessary
    • Thorough reporting of any actions taken or observations made in the course of carrying out daily functions
    • Responsible for preventive maintenance and daily walkthroughs
    • Responsible for the organization and management of spare parts and equipment.
    • Support project work as assigned. Includes but not limited to; cable terminations, cable installation/lacing, labeling, blue-lining, testing and installation of equipment, racks, etc.
    • Actively participate in the maintenance of neat and orderly workspaces and storage areas


    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent military training preferred
    • Must be able to work nights and weekends as part of a rotating schedule
    • Must be a team player and able to take on the role of leader or team member depending on what is needed for each task, project or assignment
    • Candidate must be detail oriented and able to quickly assess a problem, determine near-term and long-term resolutions and follow through to final resolution
    • At least 5 Years of proven success as a television technical maintenance engineer supporting live production and mission critical systems.
    • Must demonstrate strong troubleshooting and configuration skillset for network based systems including but not limited to network switching and routing infrastructure, data storage systems, servers and workstations (Windows, Mac OS and Linux based systems), specifically in a live environment.
    • System/board/component level diagnosis and repair experience with (but not limited to) ENG/EFP cameras, video production switchers, audio mixing consoles, intercom systems, multi-rate routing systems and server based technologies
    • Must exhibit functional knowledge of electronic and television-specific test equipment;
    • Proficiency reading and updating AutoCAD or engineering drawings
    • Significant system installation/project experience. Experience working for a system integration firm is a plus.
    • Membership in SMPTE, IEEE; SBE certification (or equivalent) is a plus
